"Following the success of the summer show at Aberdeen, it is certainly most satisfactory to hear that the efforts of Mr C. F. Thompson and other lovers of dogs in the Highlands to establish a fixture at Inverness during the week at the northern games have been appreciated, and at the first show on Thursday close on 200 dogs were actually benched. In every respect the gathering was successful, a surprising feature being the especially strong groups of the so-called Shetland collie and the West Highland white terrier, ... It was commented that the dwarf dogs given classification as Shetland collies were undoubtedly neater the type associated with the handsome sable and white, or tricolored, rough-coated sheepdog of the south than any others which have been benched since Highland enthusiasts set themselves the task of securing recognition of the breed. As a fact the 'Shelties' outnumbered their bigger brethren, for fifteen of the first named were paraded before the judge, as against nine of the last named, and all round the quality of the dwarfs was first rate, in spite of the rough condition in which some of them were shown. The visitors were greatly interested in their appearance, and it is certain that the breed has secured a very big lift by given good classification at a show held in the Highland capital during the northern meeting. ..."
