"CONCERNING DOGS

The entry at Inverness last week greatly exceeded expectations, and as the date selected suited the convenience of visitors to the northern meeting the attendance was encouraging, and it may be taken for granted that the show will be retained on the calendar. Mr Jas. E. Baillie of Dochfour, whose wife was so successful an exhibitor of toy bulldogs at the early shows of the Ladies' Kennel Association, was the president. No North of Scotland show promoting society has been started with a better prospect of success, and southern visitors were charmed with all that they saw. Mr. C. F. Thompson, who has done so much to secure the recognition of the Shetland collie, must have been pleased to find his favourites actually outnumber the collies of the orthodox type, and after his Inverness Fred, a very smart dwarf, had headed the dog section, his Olga, a home-bred puppy, was awarded the first prize in a really good class of eleven novices. The best of the bitches, however, was Mrs. Rattray's Queen Normond, and Mrs Elspeth Whitehead was also successful in the same section with Olaffan, quite a promising young dog."
