Unfortunately, this 8th edition of the book is without a date. All our efforts to get an exact year to both (1st edition and the book in the collection) have failed. Someone mentioned 1903 for the 1st and 1912 for the 6th edition, but we have no proof for it.
There is no extra chapter on the Shetland Sheepdog in this book and our breed also is not mentioned in the text. However, there is a photo of Wallace, an influential sable/white sire born late 1912 (and registered 1914). So we estimate that this edition of the book was published about 1915 at the earliest, perhaps even after WW1.
In the different chapters the COLLIE is always mentioned in connection with the POMERANIAN. However, because there is a correct breed name under the photo, we cannot assume that the Sheltie is referred to this.
