Cruft's Dog Show (GB), 14.02.1977

My first visit to a UK show: Cruft's 1977. Crossed by ferry with my father as brave chauffeur in the car, then on to London (Olympia). I can still feel the excitement. I remember the extensive bag checks at the entrance and the breathtaking atmosphere. The Shelties (152 dogs, 213 entries) judged by Mrs. W.K. Thatcher were beautiful. The rings were surrounded by several rows of Sheltie lovers from all over the World. I stood at the ringsite for hours and didn't move from the spot. A small "ritsch-ratsch" pocket was my camera. The results (some photos of the stunning Open Class Dogs - really well-known GREATS in it) are therefore hardly presentable. But they are sacred to me as a valuable memory.
The dog CC & BoB went to Ch. Midnitesun Justin Time, a lovely dark shaded s/w and my favourite, the s/w Ch. Mistmere Marching Orders getting the Reserve ticket.
Unfortunately, we had to take the ferry back the same day, so we couldn't look at most of the bitches. But I can still remember one little blm girl that captured my heart: Rhinog Blue Gossamer in Special Puppy Bitches Class.

Do you recognize dogs and people? With some I need help!

There is a private facebook group by June Rutterford "Sheltie Show Reports from the past" where you can find the judge's reports on the Shelties placed at this show and a small ad showing the RCC dog winner.
